Information About The Program

Rapid developments in information technology have made it necessary to train qualified people to work in this area. The "Information Technologies Graduate Program" was initiated in 1999 by ITU Computer Engineering Department for this purpose. This program can be seen as an opportunity for employees in the IT sector. ITU Information Technologies program was organized as an evening training. Courses are held every week between 18:30-21: 00. The program is three semesters long. The first semester starts in September, the second semester in January, the third semester in April and the training is completed in early August. The training is held in classrooms of maximum 25 people. Students take a total of 10 courses and make 1 project during the course. Four of the courses are elective and these courses are selected from 9 elective courses in the program. 30% of the lessons are given in English. Up to now, 60% of the students who have been accepted into the program have been working in the field of information technology but they have not been trained in this field, others were people who want to work in the field of information technology. Almost all of the graduates of the IT Masters program work in IT departments. Those who graduated from İTÜ IT Graduate Program receive a master's degree from ITU Informatics Institute.

Application Requirements (For T.C Nationality)
ALES Numerical must be minimum 55 (old system GRE Quantitative minimum 610, new system GRE minimum 149 ). Undergraduate GPA must be minimum 2.1/4 (55.66/100). English proficiency is not required for application. Students who are accepted to the program without a valid English language certificate can complete their final registration but cannot take any courses until they present a valid English language certificate.

Measurement and Evaluation

Evaluating Student Success
The student success is evaluated considering Articles 56, 57, 58, and 59 of the Istanbul Technical University Graduate Education and Training Regulation Senate Principles.

ARTICLE 56 - Before the enrollment for the courses begins, the faculty member who offers the course informs the Program Executive Committee about the types, number and contribution percentage to the final grade of the studies within the semester, as well as requirements for a right to take the semester final exam. These requirements shall be finalized by approval of the Program Executive Committee and approval of the chair of the department, who declares them to the student and informs the Graduate School.

ARTICLE 57 - A student may appeal the final grade of a course within one week following the announcement of the grades. Appeals must be submitted to the Graduate School in writing. The relevant faculty member shall re-evaluate the student's success status and submit the result to the Graduate School within one week. Appeals not submitted within the prescribed time frame shall not be considered by the Graduate School.

ARTICLE 58 - Courses in graduate programs shall be evaluated according to the following grading system.

ARTICLE 59 - Students who wish to improve their cumulative grade point average may retake courses during the course-taking period. The most recent grade will be counted for the repeated courses.

There is no internship in this program.

- To succeed a total of 30 credits
- To have minimum CC from all the compulsory courses
- To succeed in English courses of minimum 30% of the required earned credits (9 credits)
- 3.00 of minimum GPA
- To have BL (successful) from BTE599 Term Project course
