Information About The Program
*Students who applied for Performance Department Instrument-Voice Thesis Master Program should fulfill the registration conditions of the Social Sciences Institute. In addition, all the applicants enter two exams including an interview/verbal exam and a written exam.
*The questions for the written exam are decided by the Executive Committee and carried out by the Program Acceptance Committee. A performance with an instrument or voice is required for the interview/verbal exam.
* An English proficiency test result accepted by ITU Senate need to be submitted during registration or ITU Proficiency test point decided by ITU Senate need to be provided. For the foreign students, the rules of Council of Higher Education are implemented.
*The language of the program is Turkish-English. %70 of the courses enrolled should be in Turkish, %30 of the courses enrolled should be in English. %50 of the courses are compulsory and %50 of the courses are elective.
* In order to graduate from Performance Department Instrument-Voice Thesis Master Program, 24 credits should be completed. 12 credits are for compulsory courses and 12 credits are for elective courses.
*Students should enroll %50 of the courses from their own program. Other half could be selected from Social Sciences Institute Master Programs or from other universities masters and PhD programs with the approval of the advisor.
* ITU Performance Department Instrument-Voice Thesis Master Program is prosecuted under the legislation of “ITU Masters Education Regulation”.

Application Requirements (For T.C Nationality) ALES is not required. Undergraduate GPA must be minimum 2.8/4 (72/100). Graduation must be Musical Instrument, Instrument Training, Instrument - Voice, Music, Music Technologies, Music Theory, Music Theory and Composition, Musicology, Musicology and Music Theory, Voice, Basic Arts, Turkish Folk Dances, Turkish Music. To graduate from undergraduate programs affiliated with conservatories or music faculties of universities.
Present reference letters to the admission jury through entering them into the system, indicating mastery of necessary performance techniques, theoretical knowledge, and repertoire related to their instrument or voice area in terms of performance competencies in the field of instrumental and vocal performance.
The written exam counting for 30% and the interview/performance exam for 70% in the student admission exams.

Program Educational Objectives
Educating professional performers who can evaluate the rich traditional music heritage of Turkey, develop a view point evolved from past to the future and fuse their national art identity with the global values is an inevitable necessity. Within this context, foundation of the Performance Department Instrument-Voice Thesis Master Program has been aimed under Istanbul Technical University Social Sciences Institute and it has been approved by the Council of Higher Education on 04.08.2014. This program is an interdisciplinary program that includes two different performance areas (voice and instrument).

Evaluating Student Success
The student success is evaluated considering Articles 56, 57, 58, and 59 of the Istanbul Technical University Graduate Education and Training Regulation Senate Principles.
ARTICLE 56 - Before the enrollment for the courses begins, the faculty member who offers the course informs the Program Executive Committee about the types, number and contribution percentage to the final grade of the studies within the semester, as well as requirements for a right to take the semester final exam. These requirements shall be finalized by approval of the Program Executive Committee and approval of the chair of the department, who declares them to the student and informs the Graduate School.
ARTICLE 57 - A student may appeal the final grade of a course within one week following the announcement of the grades. Appeals must be submitted to the Graduate School in writing. The relevant faculty member shall re-evaluate the student's success status and submit the result to the Graduate School within one week. Appeals not submitted within the prescribed time frame shall not be considered by the Graduate School.

ARTICLE 59 - Students who wish to improve their cumulative grade point average may retake courses during the course-taking period. The most recent grade will be counted for the repeated courses.

Graduation Requirements
Istanbul Technical University Graduate Level Regulations and Senate Principles for the Master's Thesis program are specified in the scope of Article 3. ARTICLE 3- In the 1st Education Master's Thesis Programs the following matters are considered:
a)For graduation, the minimum GPA should be 3.00, and the term project course should be completed with success.
b) Students with a minimum GPA of 3.00 who have completed their courses and term projects can graduate earlier.
c) The processes concerning the dismissal of the student from the University due to failure or the expiration of the maximum education time are carried out in accordance with the "Graduate Level Education Regulations" which has been published by The Council of Higher Education in The Official Gazette number 29690 dated 20.04.2016 and by extension, the regulation rules created our University.
