The information and program qualifications related to the Physics Engineering Bachelor of Science Program, under the Department of Physics of the Faculty of Science and Letters, are summarized below.
Information About The Program
Physics Engineering Programme focuses on combining theoretical and experimental knowledge provided by physics with the engineering and programming techniques. Physics Chairs which were initally part of the Faculty of Fundamental Sciences, were reorganized in 1982 as Department of Physics Engineering within Faculty of Sciences and Letter. The department, starting with a small group of faculty members, has reached its current internationally competing level by improving the research facilities as well as undergraduate and graduate programmes with the addition of many more faculty members.
Theoretical, experimental and computational scientific research conducted in the department with national and international collaborations can be summarized as: Condensed Matter Physics , Particle Physics, Atom and Molecule Physics, Mathematical Physics, Gravitation, Cosmology, Astrophysics, and Statistical Physics. We have research laboratories such as Dielectric Spectroscopy, Electrochemical Coating and Characterization, Computational Rheology, Materials Synthesis and Optics, Magnetic Materials, Magnetism and Low Temperature, Molecular Spectroscopy, Surface Science at the Nanoscale, Nanomechanics, Nuclear Physics, Rheological Measurements and Nanocomposites Production, Liquid Crystals, and High Energy Astrophysics. Research facilities and fields in the department are continuously improving with project based fundings and awards.
The students of the department find the opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills in different fields by taking elective courses offered by the department and other engineering departments in the university. As a consequence, they are prepared for graduate studies in fundamental sciences and various engineering fields in respected institutes within Turkey and abroad, as well as broadening the career opportunities in industrial sectors such as medical, electronics, information technology and finance.
