Information About The Program
The Turkish ready-made clothing industry has maintained its position as one of Turkey’s leading industries according to indicators used for investment, production, employment, export, and value-added. It is an important actor in the World markets and can sustain global competitiveness. Nevertheless, the industry is going through a significant transformation process in recent years, driven by global and domestic dynamics, and focusing on modern and organized retailing and fashion management operations. In this context, need to the professionals and field masters who can lead and manage the sectoral and global business activities, has been noticeably increasing. This program was developed based on the results of several call meetings held in collaboration with the representatives of the ready-made sector in between 2009-2013, and took in place in the 2014-2015 Academic Year.
Mission of the Apparel Retail and Fashion Management Non Thesis Master of Science Program:
To educate professionals who have contemporary knowledge in the field of apparel retail and fashion management, are competent in retail merchandising, planning, supply and marketing practices, conscious of social, cultural, environmental and ethical aspects of their profession, preferred for the management and leadership positions, aware of the nature of business relations and the customer behaviors, capable of continuing life-long learning in their profession.

Application Requirements (For T.C Nationality) ALES is not required. Undergraduate GPA must be minimum 2.00/4 (53.33/100). Graduates of four-year undergraduate degree programmes are eligible to apply. There is no foreign language requirement; however, it is preferable for candidates to speak English. The teaching language method of this program is Turkish. English is not a requirement to start education.

Program Educational Objectives
The following educational objectives of the Program reflect the needs of our constituencies and have been reviewed and validated by our constituents. In this context;
1. Graduates will demonstrate proficiency in merchandising, buying, marketing, and quality principles and methods along with technical knowledge which is essential to contemporary context of the apparel retail and fashion management.
2. Graduates will be preferred for the management and leadership positions in the apparel retail and fashion sector.
3. Graduates will have an extensive point of view regarding the influences of the apparel retail and fashion management practices on social, cultural, environmental and ethical values.
4. Graduates will understand the nature of the apparel retail and fashion sector about the global operations, structures and practices of the business relations and the customer behaviors.
5. Graduates will be aware of the importance of their future professional development through continuing education and research.
Measurement and Evaluation
Evaluating Student Success
The student success is evaluated considering Articles 56, 57, 58, and 59 of the Istanbul Technical University Graduate Education and Training Regulation Senate Principles.
ARTICLE 56 - Before the enrollment for the courses begins, the faculty member who offers the course informs the Program Executive Committee about the types, number and contribution percentage to the final grade of the studies within the semester, as well as requirements for a right to take the semester final exam. These requirements shall be finalized by approval of the Program Executive Committee and approval of the chair of the department, who declares them to the student and informs the Graduate School.
ARTICLE 57 - A student may appeal the final grade of a course within one week following the announcement of the grades. Appeals must be submitted to the Graduate School in writing. The relevant faculty member shall re-evaluate the student's success status and submit the result to the Graduate School within one week. Appeals not submitted within the prescribed time frame shall not be considered by the Graduate School.

ARTICLE 59 - Students who wish to improve their cumulative grade point average may retake courses during the course-taking period. The most recent grade will be counted for the repeated courses.

Graduation Requirements
To confer the degree, graduates should satisfactorily fulfill the following requirements: A non-thesis second cycle (Master’s Degree) program, comprised of 10 courses (30 ITU credits) with a minimum average score of 3.00/4.00 and successfully completion of the graduation project. The permissible maximum length of the Program is three semesters.

Program Outcomes
P.O.1 Developing and intensifying the technical and managerial knowledge in the apparel and fashion industry via focusing on production and retail management and the related concepts of global merchandising, supply chain, sales and marketing, based upon the competency in the undergraduate level.
P.O.2 Grasping the interdisciplinary interactions in order to develop comprehensive understanding and sectoral executive knowledge required by the apparel retail and fashion industry; using the theoretical knowledge in practical application and developing new solutions.
P.O.3 Determination of complex problems arising in the apparel retail and fashion management, developing strategic approaches and creating solutions by taking responsibility and using the related knowledge.
P.O.4 Executing a practical study requiring expertise in conducting the apparel retail and fashion management activities; determining the requirements and solving the problems independently or taking part in or fulfilling the leader role in a team work.
