Program Educational Objectives
The program aims to train students to become world-class and globally competitive academicians or practitioners. Advanced core theory courses are complemented by field courses. Faculty members include successful Ph.D. students in research and consultancy projects.
The aims of the program are to train graduates with the following characteristics.
• Ambitious in national and international business environments, preferred at management levels, by providing specialization through elective courses and doctoral thesis,
• Able to interpret economics as a whole, have a broad perspective and high analytical power,

Measurement and Evaluation
Evaluating Student Success
The student success is evaluated considering Articles 56, 57, 58, and 59 of the Istanbul Technical University Graduate Education and Training Regulation Senate Principles.
ARTICLE 56 - Before the enrollment for the courses begins, the faculty member who offers the course informs the Program Executive Committee about the types, number and contribution percentage to the final grade of the studies within the semester, as well as requirements for a right to take the semester final exam. These requirements shall be finalized by approval of the Program Executive Committee and approval of the chair of the department, who declares them to the student and informs the Graduate School.
ARTICLE 57 - A student may appeal the final grade of a course within one week following the announcement of the grades. Appeals must be submitted to the Graduate School in writing. The relevant faculty member shall re-evaluate the student's success status and submit the result to the Graduate School within one week. Appeals not submitted within the prescribed time frame shall not be considered by the Graduate School.

ARTICLE 59 - Students who wish to improve their cumulative grade point average may retake courses during the course-taking period. The most recent grade will be counted for the repeated courses.
Internship
There is no internship in this program.
Graduation Requirements
A doctorate candidate must take a total of 24 credits of courses. Four of them are compulsory courses and they are 600 coded courses. The remaining four will be selected from the elective course pool (500 coded). Apart from these, it is obligatory for the candidate to attend non-credit seminar courses. The candidate who passes the proficiency exam will be entitled to write a doctoral thesis. In order to take the proficiency exam, 24 credits must be completed and the average must be 3.00 and above.

Program Outcomes
P.O.1 Developing economic knowledge with mathematical theories and statistical research methods based on undergraduate and graduate-level qualifications.
P.O.2 To be able to interpret the knowledge acquired in the field of economics by integrating it with the knowledge from different disciplines, to comprehend the interdisciplinary interaction, and to use the acquired skills in interdisciplinary studies.
P.O.3 To be able to use economic and statistical research methods, especially econometric models, with the help of related software, by establishing and basing a theoretical model in the analysis of economic data.
P.O.4 To be able to carry out scientific research independently, to take part in teamwork and to lead when necessary, to systematically transfer current developments in the field of economics and their own studies with quantitative and qualitative data to groups in their field and outside in written, oral and visual formats in Turkish as well as in English, and to be able to make works in accordance with academic rules.
