Information About The Program

Our goal is to deepen the students’ theoretical knowledge about business management and to ensure that they can conduct academic studies which contribute to the identification and solution of problems faced by organizations. Moreover, we expect that our graduates take on active roles in the society and share their research with eminent scientific communities as well as business environments both at the national level and worldwide, hence contribute to our understanding about business and organizational phenomena.

Registration Requirements

Application Requirements (For T.C Nationality)
ALES Numerical or Equally Weighted must be minimum 75 (old system GRE Quantitative minimum 700, new system GRE minimum 155 , GMAT minimum , GMAT minimum 540). Graduate GPA must be minimum 3.25/4 (82.5/100). Minimum GPA from undergraduate to doctorate must be 3.5/4 (88.33/100). Graduate or Undergraduate degree from a faculty of Administrative, Economic and Social Sciences or Engineering.

Program Educational Objectives

Program educational objectives include

Measurement and Evaluation

Evaluating Student Success
The student success is evaluated considering Articles 56, 57, 58, and 59 of the Istanbul Technical University Graduate Education and Training Regulation Senate Principles.

ARTICLE 56 - Before the enrollment for the courses begins, the faculty member who offers the course informs the Program Executive Committee about the types, number and contribution percentage to the final grade of the studies within the semester, as well as requirements for a right to take the semester final exam. These requirements shall be finalized by approval of the Program Executive Committee and approval of the chair of the department, who declares them to the student and informs the Graduate School.

ARTICLE 57 - A student may appeal the final grade of a course within one week following the announcement of the grades. Appeals must be submitted to the Graduate School in writing. The relevant faculty member shall re-evaluate the student's success status and submit the result to the Graduate School within one week. Appeals not submitted within the prescribed time frame shall not be considered by the Graduate School.

ARTICLE 58 - Courses in graduate programs shall be evaluated according to the following grading system.

ARTICLE 59 - Students who wish to improve their cumulative grade point average may retake courses during the course-taking period. The most recent grade will be counted for the repeated courses.


Internship

There is no internship in this program.


Graduation Requirements

Students should sucessfully complete at least seven courses, at least half of which should be PhD level (6XX) courses, with a GPA over 3.00, pass written/oral qualifying exams and defend their PhD thesis to complete the program. Students have at most four semesters to complete their courses and apply for the qualfying exam. The program should be completed at most in ten semesters. In addition to their thesis, students should submit a scientific paper which they have published in indexed journals or at least have received editorial acceptance letters from the journal editors.

Program Outcomes

P.O.1 1. To develop expertise by integrating current and advanced level knowledge in the the field of Business Administration with new ideas and/or research; and construct original definitions that would bring innovation into the field; assess the interdisciplinary character of the Business Administration field and find solutions by using this expertise through analyzing, synthesizing and evaluating new and complex knowledge.
P.O.2 2. To be able to evaluate new knowledge in the the field of Business Administration through a systematic approach; study an original topic, and to develop an innovative idea, method, design or application or to apply a conventional idea, method, design or application into a different field.
P.O.3 3. To gain advanced skills in using research methods necessary for studies in the field.
P.O.4 4. To be competent in doing independent research and expanding the frontiers of knowledge in Business Administration by being able to publish at least one journal article in national/international peer reviewed journals.
P.O.5 5. To be competent in being a leader in situations where there is a need for finding solutions to interdisciplinary problems.
P.O.6 6. To develop field-related innovative ideas and methods by making use of advanced intellectual processes such as creative and critical thinking, problem solving and decision making.
