Information About The Program
Having a 21st century music education mindset and acknowledging the trends of interdisciplinary integration in music theory; to foster Turkish musical culture, to give an education in order to make this culture more internationally acclaimed, to educate the musicians with scientific methods for improving his cultural status and functionality, to make the students possess change and creation in music by applications of new scientific developments in music education, to underpin an academic background for helping them develop new methods and techniques in music theory, within the structure where contemporary methods are set.

Program Educational Objectives
To provide fundamental knowledge about Western Music Theory and Turkish (Makam) Music Theory, a firm understanding of the historical developments of musical sciences as well as attaining the fundamental principles of music theory including musical forms and genres, theoretical frameworks and analytical approaches to music.
Measurement and Evaluation
Student success is evaluated in consideration of Articles 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25 of the Istanbul Technical University Undergraduate Education and Training Regulation.
