Program Employment Opportunities
While there are numerous master's programs worldwide that provide education and training in the field of 'Sustainability,' the number of such programs in our country is quite limited. The programs listed can be considered narrowly focused due to their emphasis on specific sub-disciplines. Most of the examples in our country are programs of foundation universities. Especially for companies to adapt to rapidly changing worldviews and to comply with the conditions of the Paris Agreement signed in our country, they need to adopt and implement significant managerial changes within their structures. It is stated that graduates of the sustainability master's program at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) have a 100% job placement rate. This implies that all graduates either find jobs shortly after graduation or choose to advance their education.
When job postings published in Turkey in December are examined on LinkedIn, there are 22 advertisements for 'Sustainability Specialist/Engineer' with a description in Turkish, while 41 advertisements for 'Sustainability Specialist/Engineer' are posted with an English description. It is observed that many sectoral institutions that publish job advertisements have a corporate structure, and at least 25% of them are seeking graduates for managerial positions. Additionally, the simultaneous opening of a doctoral program planned alongside the master's program will also provide an opportunity for a student focused on academia or research to continue their work on sustainability.
