In addition to being a part of the cultural identity, Turkish Folk Dances significant national and international attention as a performance art and thus requires artistic applications
at World standards. The vision of the program is to provide artistic and scientific knowledge that will enable the formation of a perspective to integrate the cultural values it presents
with the World by way of technological opportunities at the modern performance arts level.

Program Educational Objectives

To provide fundamental knowledge about mostly local and international dance techniques, theories and dance cultures of the world and comparison with the modern and formal concept. The students are able to apply their knowledge into international dance platforms.


Measurement and Evaluation

Student success is evaluated in consideration of Articles 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25 of the Istanbul Technical University Undergraduate Education and Training Regulation. Click here for the relevant regulation.

Program Employment Opportunities

Our graduates can work at relevant ministries, state choirs, public education centers and government institutions such as TRT in addition to private dance groups as dancers, researchers, choreographers and trainers, they can also work as academic staff at relevant departments of universities.

Program Outcomes

P.O.1 To know different dance characters in folk dances area.
P.O.2 To know basic dance teaching techniques in folk dances area.
P.O.3 To be able to create teaching and practice techniques in folk dances area.
P.O.4 To be able to make movement, rhythm and music analyses.
P.O.5 To know folk culture products (music, instrument, rhythm, clothes, folkway, belief, etc..) that are unseparable part of folk dances and to make traditional performances with these abilities and knowledge.
