It is an interdisciplinary program created within the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering Master and PhD Program aims to give students the ability to research and develop in the field of aerodynamics, propulsion, aerospace structures, aerospace materials, flight mechanics, orbital mechanics, aircraft and spacecraft control.

Program Profile

The rationale for the establishment of the Aerospace Engineering Interdisciplinary Master's Program is to address Turkey's needs in the field of aviation and space, focusing on conducting research in the areas of Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Structures and Materials, Flight and Orbital Dynamics, and Control of Air and Space Vehicles. The program aims to train individuals with advanced academic qualifications who are capable of keeping up with technological developments in their field, responding to industrial needs, and engaging in multidisciplinary work while being environmentally conscious. In this context, the Aerospace Engineering Interdisciplinary Master's Program seeks to equip students with research and development skills in theoretical, computational, and experimental aerodynamics and fluid dynamics; theoretical, computational, and experimental structural analysis and design; aircraft design, flight dynamics, and performance; spacecraft control, design, and performance; unmanned aerial vehicles; rotorcraft; mechanical vibrations and structural dynamics; multidisciplinary analysis, design, and optimization; thermal systems design and optimization; control systems: adaptive, smart, digital, optimal, pneumatic-hydraulic; robotic control; measurement systems; avionics navigation systems.

Program Educational Objectives

1.. Being able to graduate as skilled engineers, specialized in one of the areas of aero-thermodynamics, aircraft structures and materials, flight control and dynamics or space mechanics and control as their inclinations and career goals may dictate.
2. Having the ability to understand, analyze and solve a new complex problem on their own by developing new strategic approaches and by using theoretical, computational and experimental methods.
3. Having the ability to use modern programming tools and computation/simulation software together with information and communication technologies while producing new information/products and practical engineering solutions.
4. Being accomplished specialists in their profession who can communicate effectively, focus on life-long learning, adopt professional and ethical behaviour and serve as team members in multidisciplinary work environment.



Measurement and Evaluation

Evaluating Student Success
The student success is evaluated considering Articles 56, 57, 58, and 59 of the Istanbul Technical University Graduate Education and Training Regulation Senate Principles.

ARTICLE 56 - Before the enrollment for the courses begins, the faculty member who offers the course informs the Program Executive Committee about the types, number and contribution percentage to the final grade of the studies within the semester, as well as requirements for a right to take the semester final exam. These requirements shall be finalized by approval of the Program Executive Committee and approval of the chair of the department, who declares them to the student and informs the Graduate School.

ARTICLE 57 - A student may appeal the final grade of a course within one week following the announcement of the grades. Appeals must be submitted to the Graduate School in writing. The relevant faculty member shall re-evaluate the student's success status and submit the result to the Graduate School within one week. Appeals not submitted within the prescribed time frame shall not be considered by the Graduate School.

ARTICLE 59 - Students who wish to improve their cumulative grade point average may retake courses during the course-taking period. The most recent grade will be counted for the repeated courses.
