Information About The Program
Purpose of the program
To train creative individuals with scientific, artistic and researching personality required in dance field; to raise qualified and respected specialists in national and international fields (cinemas, theater, music, etc.) in the private dance sector within the academic and artistic institutions (Universities, Institutes, Ministry of Culture, State Theaters, State Opera and Ballet. To gain the artistic and scientific equipments with the perspective to integrate the cultural values represented with the world in the artistic and scientific platform by utilizing the interdisciplinary studies at the stage of contemporary stage arts and to make the traditional dances area in the artistic and scientific platform. The main aim of the Undergraduate Programs is; theoretical and practical equipment in the field, competence in dance performance, scientific and artistic system of thought, and a clear vision for creativity.
Structure of the Program
The Traditional Dance Thesis Master Program, which is planned to start the education in 2014-2015 academic year, consists of maximum 6 semesters. Each semester consists of 15 weeks including 14 weeks of classes and 1 week of exam week. The duration of the programs follows parallels with other SBE programs.
In the Traditional Dance Thesis Master Program; 24 credits are required for 12 credits, 12 credits for elective courses. Courses are 3 + 0 credits. Students who are admitted to the programs may begin their studies with the approval of the advisor after they have successfully completed the English test.
Programs have to take English courses at 30%.
In programs, students may receive 50% of the total credits of their elective courses from their programs, other courses from SBE postgraduate programs, or from the graduate or doctoral programs of different universities with the consent of the advisor.

Additionally, you are required to record a 3-5 minute dance performance of yours.

Measurement and Evaluation
Evaluating Student Success
The student success is evaluated considering Articles 56, 57, 58, and 59 of the Istanbul Technical University Graduate Education and Training Regulation Senate Principles.
ARTICLE 56 - Before the enrollment for the courses begins, the faculty member who offers the course informs the Program Executive Committee about the types, number and contribution percentage to the final grade of the studies within the semester, as well as requirements for a right to take the semester final exam. These requirements shall be finalized by approval of the Program Executive Committee and approval of the chair of the department, who declares them to the student and informs the Graduate School.
ARTICLE 57 - A student may appeal the final grade of a course within one week following the announcement of the grades. Appeals must be submitted to the Graduate School in writing. The relevant faculty member shall re-evaluate the student's success status and submit the result to the Graduate School within one week. Appeals not submitted within the prescribed time frame shall not be considered by the Graduate School.

ARTICLE 59 - Students who wish to improve their cumulative grade point average may retake courses during the course-taking period. The most recent grade will be counted for the repeated courses.

Graduates of Traditional Dance Thesis Master program can work as graduates in universities, institutes and organized educational institutions. They can work as dancers, artists in the Ministry of Culture communities, in state theaters, opera and ballets, and in the private sector.
